Error Message Hidden On Advanced Settings For Docker Containers

Featured Replies

unRAID OS Version:

6.1.6 (and all prior versions)

Description:

If the docker's template utilizes environment variables, but the author has chosen to NOT set any default values for the variable, upon hitting CREATE, nothing will happen.  If you hit Advanced View, and then hit CREATE, then you will see that there is an error message prompting you to fill out the variable's value.

How to reproduce:

Attempt to install musicbrainz from linuxserver.io-dev, and only fill in the host mappings.  Do not click Advanced View

Expected results:

Some sort of error should pop up

Actual results:

Nothin pops up if you're not in Advanced View

Other information:

Has been reported in various threads over time, but AFAIK this is the first actual defect report filed for it.

Recurring problem since the integration of dockerMan within unRaid.  Very confusing to both the authors and the users.

As a container developer, I specifically leave some advanced settings in there with blank values.

The idea is to force the user to look at those settings and make decisions before hitting the create button (some are required custom values like IP addresses or usernames and such)

But as squid put it, it gets confusing if the user never even opens the advanced view. Because they get no feedback about a missing field. They keep hitting the create button and nothing happens.
