October 7, 200916 yr I have been using the sysetm for a while, and am just now getting large enough to purchase teh Plus system and add my 4th drive. I use the system for Movies, Pictures, adn backup of my other computers. I did quite a bit of reading when i set it up, and am just now reading through the Share stuff again. I'm beginning to woner if I should change...although not sure if I can at this point. My shares are minimally configured. They are set to High Water; 0 for min space; no other settings. Should I consider changing any of the settings from a 'best practices' standpoint?
October 9, 200916 yr You should plan the shares so the data isn't unnecessarily spread out over different drives. Say you store movies with a number of files per movie - you don't want these files for a single movie to be spread out over more than one drive. This can usually be accomplished with the split level setting but I think you could also use the setting to fill one drive first before moving to the next one which would likely keep this problem from happening.
