I hate when I'm away for a few weeks and something happens that needs a restart. thanks unRAID was not created to be exposed to the internet. That type of security was not (and I think still isn't) in its design. I highly recommend against opening port 80 and forwarding it to unRAID. I would setup a VPN either via docker or plugin (both can be installed thru Squid's Community Apps plugin). That way you are securely connected to your home network and can access the WebGUI that way.

I usually do it that way, but I also have VPN set up in my router just because. Exactly what I do. I currently use Logme.com and I just login to my Windows PC and do what I need to do. Of course I'm paying for it, but it serves my needs. I do not however encourage remote access at all via your server. You are more or less asking to be hacked or messed with.

Wouldn't it be better to have a VPN external to your Unraid Box so that your connection isn't lost when you reboot your unraid box? Is this not actually a problem?
