December 22, 201510 yr I dealt with so many strange errors in the last few days, just to discover that Samsung EVOs are not fully supported. Please, follow this link for the full conversation: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72341 My experience with an 850 as unRAID cache drive confirms it.
December 22, 201510 yr I don't read this as being a critical issue. Levente Kurusa 2014-04-22 14:20:11 UTC ... Anyways, according to T13 ATA ACS-3 this command set is optional and it might be that the device is reporting it as it has it, but in reality it does not have it. It's really nothing to worry about. I might send in a patch to add a quirk to supress the error message. Thanks Levente Kurusa I have the error "Tower kernel: ata10.00: failed to get NCQ Send/Recv Log Emask 0x1" message twice in my log after each reboot (once each before and while the drive is being initialized). My Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD works flawlessly as cache drive (other than bad cable issue once)
