Issue with new power supply

Featured Replies

My second power supply fan quit working, though it is still working, so I thought I would swap it out for a new power supply I had sitting around.

When I hooked up the new power supply it did not work.  I hooked the 24 pin connector that I use to connect the two power supplies together, that works with the current power supplies, but it just did not power any of the drives.

I do see a red led on the unit so I know that it is getting power.

I then hooked it up to the motherboard, which only has a 20 pin power connector, and it would not turn on then either.

Ideas?

thanks,

dave

Three possible suggestions.

1. Did you connect p4 connector(additional 12v line). Most mb wont power-up without it.

2. Is the heatsink and fan for cpu conneted, again most mb wont power on without it.

3. Check the pc power button(multi-meter) to make sure the switch is working.

On top of Kaygee's good response. Are you sure your spare PSU works? Do you have another system you can test it with?
