Hi all.  I was wondering if anyone was using Unraid for a home security camera system?  If so, what program are you using and what type of cameras?  I am looking forward to seeing if this is another way that I can utilize Unraid.  Thank You.

I am looking to do the same thing.  I have the docker setup, but am trying to research cameras now.  Below is a thread on this.  I am thinking about buying one of the cameras mentioned in that thread and testing with zone minder.

As i said above, I am starting to get into zone minder.  I have the docker from aptalca (thanks for all your work in building these dockers BTW) and had a question regarding the model camera that works best?  I saw a post about someone trying to use a USB camera and I get why that does not work (no drivers).

 

Is there an IP POE camera that you guys have had good luck with getting to work?  I was looking at the camera in my previous post, but am hesitant to spend the money if it is not going to work.

From the zoneminder wiki you should try the IP cameras. I personally tried the Foscams. 8903 and 8921 both work Ok but the control part on the 8921 is somehow sketchy on my setup.

Other than that I'm still experimenting, still learning how to email alerts or saving the events on the array, setting up filters, etc.

I have heard positive things about the foscams.  Thank you for the replies.  I hope to get more into this in the new year and can hopefully contribute more to what type of camera works best and setup.
