Disk fails to rebuild but pre-cleared fine

Featured Replies

I have a disk that red balled earlier today.  So I unassigned and reassigned it and started to rebuild it.  Within the first few minutes, I started to see errors and the disk went offline again.  I tried this 3 times with the same result each time.

I then decided to pre-clear the disk prior to rebuilding it.  It ran through the entire process without error:

I have not yet tried again to reassign/rebuild the disk again (currently watching A Christmas Story).  If the data rebuild fails again, what could be the reason?

Cabling, PS, etc.  If it fails again during a rebuild, post the diagnostics from when it fails

Wouldn't/Shouldn't those things also cause it to fail during a pre-clear?

Difference being is that during a preclear, only one drive is active.  Ultimately, a lot can happen to make it fail.  The diagnostics should give better clues

Data rebuild completed and the disk is back online.  Now the wait and see game.
