Suggestions needed for 8 HD, PCIx 4x controller card

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a need for a PCIx 2.x (or 3.x) 4 lanes controller card for 8 hd's.

I have several M1015's but the PCIx connector is closed at the end on the MB, and I neither want to mod the MB nor the M1015's.

What card works with unraid 6.1.6...

I live in the EU .

Thanks!!!

It's not a v2 card, so you'd have some bandwidth limitations ... but the SASLP-MV8's are very reliable PCIe x4 cards.

I don't know if anyone's used it with UnRAID, but the SYBA SI-PEX40097 is a PCIe x4 v2.0 card that supports up to 16 drives.    With 16 drives that would also be bandwidth limited; but if you didn't connect more than ~ 10 drives you wouldn't be throttling anything.  I assume it works with UnRAID, as many other Marvell-based SYBA cards are in use, but didn't find this specific one mentioned in the thread.

I need it to remove some bandwith limitations, so a SASLP-MV8 is no good.

The SYBA SI-PEX40097 seems ok, but the price is more than twice for a M1015. Maybe I need to mutilate a M1015 after all...

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions...

I'd think it's easier to simply cut off the end cap on the slot on the motherboard.    VERY easy to do with a Dremel ... although you DO have to be VERY careful  :)
