Copy from old unRAID to New unRAID

Featured Replies

Hey All,

I am not really great at linux command line operation so was wondering if someone could share with me how I can copy all the contents of one share on my old unRAID box to the one share on my new unRAID box?

Thanks in advance!

Dirt simplest way is simply through copying and pasting from Windows

Or alternatively, another simple way (and faster) would be to use the unassigned devices plugin, and mount a SMB share to your new server, then use the dolphin docker app to copy and paste from the old server to the new.

No real need to drop down to a command line.

Or, remove a drive at a time from the old server, pop them into the new server (using unassigned devices again), and copy the folders over using either windows or dolphin or even mc from the command line

Hey Squid thanks for the suggestions.  This is great.  I am going to with your second suggestion.

Got an issue though.  I have installed the addon and the Dolphin Docker app but when I browse to the mnt point that the add-on created the folder is empty in Dolphin.

try stopping and starting the docker service  (assuming you can browse to it via unassigned devices -> I don't use it, so can't remember)

Thanks I will try that after.  There was a way to mount a remote share within Dolphin and when I did that I could then browse the share.  I am now in the process of copying.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Did realize that.... Thanks.

My only problem now is the copy window inside Dolphin has gone in to the background and I can't figure out how to bring it to the forefront again.

I know it is still copying because I see new files populating the destination but have no idea how far along it is.  Is there an "alt tab" type keyboard combo I can do withing the Dolphin docker to bring the copy window back to the forefront?

Done that a couple of times too.  If you figure it out, let me know... (or post in Aptalca's support thread for it)

Figured it out!

You can toggle to bring up the main file menu.  The click on File -> Quit and the window will exit away leaving the Copy window showing!
