So, I bought unRAID 6 Basic for a brand new NAS I just built with 2 x 4TB and 1 x 2 TB drives and a 4 TB Parity Drive.

I finished copying all my Plex content to the array from my old external 4TB HDD which was what I used for PMS previously.

 

Here's a few screenshots of how my unRAID setup is looking like:

 

I followed this (https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/387454/#Comment_387454) post to try and install PMS as a plugin first.

 

I have separate shares for each kind of content, Movies, TV Shows, Animes, Home Movies, etc.

 

Here's my questions:

 

* On that post it says that if I have a paid version of unRAID (which I do, unRAID 6 Basic), I should set the library directory to /mnt/cache/apps/Plex and the Temp directory to /mnt/cache/apps/Plex/Temp . Is this still valid for my version of unRAID? I have a share called apps, shouldn't I just move the library directory to there? I also don't have a cache drive.

* I noticed that if I stop the array and then force shut down the machine by pressing and holding the power button for 5 seconds, and then turn the machine back on, I lose all my PMS settings, it just starts from scratch, I have to create everything again. Is this because I didn't let the machine shutdown by itself? Or is there something I need to do to make sure this doesn't happen?

 

I also noticed that sometimes the PMS just stops downloading metadata, even If I click on Update Library, is this common? For instance, yesterday I started PMS from scratch since I had just force shut down the machine and lost every settings, and I added a Movies section mapped to /mnt/user/Movies and then a TV Shows section mapped to /mnt/user/TV Shows.

 

It started downloading the metadata for my Movies just fine and I let it do this while I went to sleep. Now I wake up and I see that only a portion of my Movie library has cover art, some Movies don't have any metadata at all and some files have the metadata downloaded but it just displays a movie still as cover art and some don't even display a cover but when I click edit>Poster it gives me a few cover art options but even if I select one and click on Save Changes, it just says "Your changes could not be saved", it won't update the movie with it and it just stays coverless.

 

 

On TV Shows it doesn't even try, this is how my TV Shows section looks like:

 

I already tried to Refresh All, Analyze, etc. It just won't change. And here's what happens when I try to match it by myself:

 

 

It doesn't even search, it just says instantly that there were "No matches found".

 

And there's one more thing, I'm almost positive that yesterday I saw some movies with its cover art, that now won't show cover art at all.

 

When I try to play an item, it will either give me "Media was not found" screen or this:

 

Right now I tried changing my Library directory and Temp to /mnt/user/apps/Plex and /mnt/user/apps/Plex/Temp but I still think it won't work, it's running PMS now.

 

So because of all this, I decided to try Docker out, and a new problem arises, after I enable Docker in Settings, I can't get the Docker tab to show up!

 

 

Thank you for your patience! I know these are noobie questions but I'm very new to unRAID! 

Why are you powering down by holding the power button? If you can stop the array then there is no reason to not also shutdown from the GUI. I suspect you are not really waiting for it to stop since your 1st screenshot looks like you have cancelled a parity check.

 

I suggest starting from scratch without any addons, plugins, or dockers. And also make sure you don't have any adblockers or other things blocking the webUI. Then we can maybe take things one step at a time starting with getting a docker tab to show up.
