Linus Tech Tips Running v6.2 Beta?

Featured Replies

Greetings!

Long time fan of Linus Tech Tips, and love the attention he's giving unRAID in his youtube videos, even if it's not quite placed properly.  *The latest one "7 Gamers 1 CPU" built for CES2016 is pretty sick.

Anyway,

I noticed in one of his latest videos:

At 6:34 good ole Linus s running v6.2*Beta-wip.

I know in previous versions of unRAID beta versions were available for the community to test, though I can't seem to find any v6.0+ betas, did I miss something?

I can see that in hs setup @ 6:57 he's got the option to set dual parity drives.  I'd love to test this on my test server.

Again, maybe I missed something, but where do I find the Betas?

Thanks!

Available "soon"tm

Betas for 6.2 are only available if you're an elite rockstar.

Damn ...  Only a Porn star..

No Love..

In one of his recent videos, the 100TB @ 1 GB/s one, he mentioned working with the Lime Tech guys directly on a special build with tweaked Samba settings.

I too noticed the 6.2 beta and have searched for it thinking it was just me that's not been keeping up to date.

There are a few videos that LinusTechTips have put together where they're running 6.2 beta.

Things of interest that I noticed were two parity drives.

Anyone else catch that?

It was announced some months ago that 6.2 would feature dual parity and more recently it was said in one of the announcements (ok hinted) that it was in a closed beta. We'll see it soon enough and now that the holidays are done I'd guess sooner rather than later.

I'd guess "Soon™" rather than "Sooner".

My BIGGER question is, did anyone notice and hear that it was mentioned, the GUI will be accessed from the console?

I believe I saw a pretty sick looking login from console in one of the videos as well.  Look @ 16:24 ...  YEah...

Yeah, I think that will be a good feature and one that may cause me to give up my desktop and virtualise....
