This is very normal. Parity sync is the initial creation of parity. It is a very infrequent activity after the array is initially defined. Preclears should be done before a parity sync. I do not recommend backtracking, but would suggest running several parity checks over the next few weeks and carefully monitoring the Smart attributes. Going forward, do Preclears before adding new drives to the array. Quote Link to comment
