Global Share Settings saving "e" to user share instead of "yes"

Featured Replies

unRAID OS Version: 6.1.6

Description: User Shares disappearing after making a change to the Global Share Settings.  I dug into this a little on my system and have discovered that unraid is writing the wrong value to the share.cfg file in the config folder of flash.

How to reproduce: Go to Global Share Settings, add a disk to exclude and hit apply.  The resulting share.cfg file saves shareUser="e" instead of the expected shareUser="yes"

Expected results: Adding or removing a file to the disk exclude should not change the shareUser= setting.  However I believe the issue is that the incorrect value is being passed to the share.cfg file.

Actual results: shareUser="e"

Other information: I can post screenshots or diagnostics if necessary, if you are unable to reproduce this.

Modified original post as I mistakenly had an incorrect capital letter in the setting.

I have that value and my user shares are still visible.

There have been many reports of User shares not showing up in the GUI if the browser has an adblocker installed.

Do the shares not appear on the network, or are they just not appearing in the webUI due to an adblocker like has spawned multiple threads lately?

shareUser="Yes" is not a valid value, it is either shareUser="e" (user shares used) or shareUser="-" (user shares not used).

Please check for adblocker or related program, this is very likely causing your issue.

No Adblocker installed.  Just using stock chrome for browser.

I am confused by shareUser="yes" not being a valid value...because right above it is the shareDisk="yes" setting and it spells out the word yes.

That being said...I see what you mean as I reviewed a bunch of tower diagnostics files (back to August 2015) and see that this value has been set to shareUser="e" all the way back to then.  I have had no issue with this until this past week when I began excluding some drives to move files and ultimately remove them from my array.

I just made the assumption (big mistake on my part) that shareUser="e" was a typo.  Maybe its just coincidence that when I change this value to "yes" and start my array that the user shares return?  Again I have had no issues with this until this past week with excluding drives.  When it first happened I did a complete shutdown of unraid based on forum postings to see if the user shares would return, which they did not...please note that the shutdown was before my tinkering and changing the value to "yes".

So what is the answer to this question?

Do the shares not appear on the network, or are they just not appearing in the webUI ... ?

Share are not visible via Samba from my Windows 7 PC.  Also when I browse with Chrome to the webgui, they are not available.

In both places the disk shares are visible.

Moderators...please feel free to delete/move this post.

Not sure what is going on...with the shareUser="e", I rebooted into safe mode and the user shares were visible.  I then rebooted in normal mode and user shares were gone.  Decided to remove plugins one at a time and the  first one I removed was the unassigned devices plugin.  I rebooted and my user shares returned...and my shareUser="e" is still set.  So this is clearly not a defect....sorry for the confusion.

unassigned devices plugin had been working great...is it possible that it just got corrupted or something on my flash drive?  I will reinstall the plugin tonight to see what happens.
