Unassigned device

Featured Replies

I have added an SSD to my second UnRaid server that is currently doing a parity check, how do I access it or create a share so I can add my ISO's for the VM's I want to create on it?

Ash,

Use the Unasssigned Devices plugin... You can find it in Community Applications...

I have it installed and I have my SSD as an unassigned device, I just don't know how to access it or create a share on it.

Click on the drive to view the partitions.  You don't actually mount the drive, you mount the partition...

Thats helpful thanks, but it must be because my array is doing a parity check that I can't click on the drive as I am unable to at the moment.

Nope,

Just slotted in a new drive, started a parity check and mounted it....

Is it formatted?

No, I did a preclear on it, but I can't seem to do anything with it, weird.

Preclear doesn't equal formatting.  Looks like you'll need to format it first...

Hang on, I'll do some more checks my end, you've piqued my interest with this...  ;D

What format do you suggest for this drive? I am going to use it mostly for VM's.

<hint>destructive mode</hint>

Jonathan you've spoiled my fun!  ;D

I was getting into this.  Never knew about the destructive mode, was that added at a later date, because I don't remember ever turning it on and I'm pretty sure I've formatted disks before using this....

I was only 60% through my preclear....

Actually checking, looks like I may have done my formatting through command line...

Add: Destructive Mode selection on Settings, allowing users to delete and format disk/partitions.
Fix: >2TB partitions not correctly aligned on format.
Fix: Areca disks not appearing correctly.
Fix: errors appearing on console if a symlinks already exist.
Fix: file browser opening a new window.

Either xfs or btrfs.  I use xfs...

Not sure I entirely trust btrfs just yet...

How do you create the: /mnt/virtualization share you have on your SSD?

Click the partition and rename it, and if you're from North America I'd like to draw your attention to the correct spelling...  ;D

Do you leave destructive mode on all the time? When I try to mount it, it doesn't show mounted, the mount option is still there, although the auto mount option is on.

I never ever knew it existed until you did... It was off when I first went into the setting...

You're using the correct spelling... The language is English not American....  ;D
