October 23, 200916 yr I recently got very close on disk space, so I have added another drive. I now show 877GB free. But, I am trying to copy a movie up, and it copies a bit, and is copying to one of the drives that is now virtually full. I am getting a Disk Full error. I checked the newly added drive, and I see that the movies folder had not been created (I thought it would automaticallly. I do notice that some other folders are on it, which I do not remember creating, but maybe I did). So I created a Movies folder, but this did not help. This is version 4.5-Beta6. Any thoughts? [EDIT] Maybe I figured it out. I noticed that Split was set to 0 on the share. I deleted the 0. It looks like it is working. But what confuses me is I expected it to use the drivfe with more space and write there. So there is something I don't understand about the shares and some of the settings.
October 23, 200916 yr I generally use the Disk shares to copy files directly to a drive I select. This avoids all the split level settings entirely. If you want to utilize the User shares then you'll have to fine tune the split level. Your folder structure will detemine what the actual split number will be. Its actually pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Since most of us use folders to organize movies your split level will probably be a number as high as the folders are deep. Although I don't use it mine is set to 4. Since you may have the new movie folder in place maybe its better to clean up what you have, set the split level and try again from the beginning. Cheers db
October 23, 200916 yr There has been a lot of confusion and discussion over User Shares and the Split Level setting, plus, the behavior has changed in several unRAID releases. Take a look at the FAQ, User Shares section, perhaps that will help.
