Disks being spun up by SMART, but Main & Dashboard not showing drive spinning

Featured Replies

unRAID OS Version: 6.1.6

Description: Dashboard & Main do not show spun-up status of a disk properly.  If one clicks on a disk to view disk-specific settings (ex: Main-Disk1) while a disk is spun-down, the drive will spin up (I can hear it spin up) and report Attributes, Capabilities, and Identity.  "Last SMART Test result" will show "unavailable - disk must be spun up".  All items below populate after it spins the disk up, but Main and Dashboard do not show the disk as spun up.  Settings-Display has updates set at Real-Time and Regular, makes no difference.  Running

smartctl -i -n standy /dev/sdk1

sdk being the disk1 drive in my case, reports ACTIVE.  Running same command on a different drive that is spun down due to inactivilty timeout reports "STANDBY".

How to reproduce: Let disks spin down due to inactivity timeout.  Go to Main and click on a disk that is not spinning due to inactivity timeout.  It will report "unavailable - disk must be spun up" for "Last SMART test result", but the disk will be spun up to gather the remaining data for "Attributes", "Capabilities", and "Identity".  Go to Main or Dashboard and the drive is show as spun-down.  Feel the drive and/or issie the smartctl command and will be spinning/active.

Expected results:"unavailable - disk must be spun up" should be reported by all on the disk specific page if the drive is spun down.  If it is to be spun-up like it is then the Main and Dashboard should reflect the true status of the drive.

Actual results:  Given in description.

Other information:

I can confirm, and it's been like this for quite awhile.  I reported this as part of other reports, probably should have reported it separately but forgot.  It was reported as one of the causes that disk spin status would get out of sync with actual status.

I seem to have the same problem.. Any idea how i get the disk menu back so i can start a smart self test? .. I pressed the spin up button in the disk settings page but the smart alternative did not come back.. and the text still says "Unavailable - disk must be spun up"

When i went to the the mainpage the led were white... after a while i tried to click it so it went grean. That worked but the smart alternative is not back under the specific disk menu. Is the disc still in spun down state or is there a bug? How do i get the SMART self test alternatives back?

I tried doing a restart of unRAID but after the restart the 2 discs have the same problem... I will not use the spin down button in main again, thats for sure ;)

Any advice?

Its disc4 and disc5 that has this problem..
