January 19, 201610 yr hello guys, I created a vm for gaming so i put the disk size at 300gb. After that i found out about shares and put my games there so i would like to reduce my vm size to 100gb. Is this possible and how? Greeting Gl3nn
January 19, 201610 yr The issue is making sure there is no data in the part of the virtual disk image that you want to discard. The easiest way is to start by using something like a gparted .iso and temporarily amending the VM to boot off that. When it boots it will allow to shrink the partition inside the virtual disk image. Once that has been done you can stop the VM; put it back to its normal boot setting; and truncate the virtual disk image to only include the smaller partition.
January 19, 201610 yr yes, mount the iso like you would when installing windows and tell it to make the partition smaller, similar to what you would do with a physical disk. After that, you will write zeros to the empty space and truncate the disk.
September 10, 20169 yr how does one truncate the remaining space after a gparted resize? just dd a copy to the size you want?
