tank101
Just switch to Unraid a few months back. I am using it mostly for plex. I see there is a server update for plex. I have searched around but still not for sure. Do I wait for a docker update that will have the updated plex server or do I go to plex and download the server update like on a windows machine? hahler2
Question on hardware transcodes. I'm running a 10600k in my server. Running 6.9.2. I have been using the iGPU for doing hardware transcodes for quite awhile now with no issues. Today I noticed that while Plex was running and doing a transcode, it says that it's doing a HW transcode, and I can see the activity on my iGPU on my dashboard, but the CPU is also showing 60 percent usage. Before, it would barely have any cpu usage at all. Just wondering what has changed and how to fix this? Edited December 4, 2021 by hahler2 Quote Link to comment
stuart
After latest update, I have noticed transcodes of shows longer than 30 min fail with a few minutes remaining in the video. How can I revert to the previous version, or is there a new update that can be pushed that fixes the issue? Quote Link to comment

musicking
Is there an easy way to edit Plex profiles without having to console into the container and edit files at /usr/lib/plexmediaserver/Resources/Profiles/Chromecast.xml and so on? Can I map this path to my appdata folder and will that prevent it from being updated when the docker container updates? Quote Link to comment
PoppaJohn
Please help!! I have binhex-plexpass installed on unraid. I made some changes to how plex starts up using this video: to try to get my plex to encode via ram. Something went terribly wrong, and plex wants me to setup a new server. I just looked in the appdata folder, and it is huge (2 gigs) so I suspect all me custom meta data is there, but even though I put the start up paramaters back to normal and returned teh appdata config path to /mnt/user (they recommeneded /mnt/cache and swore nothing bad would happen) I still am getting a new unclaimed plex server. How do I get all my custom meta data and settings back??? Quote Link to comment

PoppaJohn
Pretty terrifying to lose all my work, but I backed up the appdata folder "just in case", and went ahead and claimed the new server with the randomly generated name. Then I was able to change the name to something new, and it found all the meta data and settings again. PHEW. Quote Link to comment

stevep94
Hi all, Merry Christmas! I'm hoping someone might be able to help - I tried to stream a film via Plex from my home unRAID server today and ran into a strange issue. Basically I was at my parents house and could stream fine to my mobile app but when I logged into my account within the app on their smart TV, I kept getting a message saying my server was not available. Obviously this was not the case because I could watch on my phone just fine - and it's not like it wasn't seeing the server, it came up with the right name but kept saying it was not online and to check it was connected to the internet and available!?!? Now I'm home I can't see any settings within the UI that could make a difference - has anyone got any ideas?? Quote Link to comment
thunderclap
I'm hoping for clarification on a few questions, not so much about this container of Plex but Plex, 4k, and iGPU in general. I've spent hours searching the web but get conflicting information due to dates. My Unraid is running on a Core i7-9700K w/ 32GB RAM on an Asrock M365M Pro4 mobo. I have some 4k HDR content that remote users are struggling with even though my upload rate is nearly 900mbps and their download speed is over 150mbps. I also have quick sync (or, I guess, iGPU?) enabled and working with Plex as it shows hardware transcoding with the (hw) label. Yet with all this the PQ transcoded at 1080p 12mbps is pretty low. It looks like Plex used to have trouble transcoding HDR content to SDR but that's no longer the case. Is that still true? It also seems that using quick sync should be able to transcode multiple 4k streams without issue. Is that still true? Does anyone know what is going on or how to fix it? If this is the wrong thread is there a better place ask for help in understanding what may be happening? Quote Link to comment

milfer322
Lately I have problems more than usual, some movies stop in buffering. I have tried changing the trans_dir to an SSD, but the same thing keeps happening. The problem is that they are small 6GB movies or with series chapters. They stop every 3-5 min. Any ideas? Or how I can debug that? The CPU and RAM is OK. Edited January 4, 2022 by milfer322 Quote Link to comment

Dr. Nerf
Hi Guys, I'm having quite an annoying pickle here. I've setup my self a plex server using binhex-plex from the app store all went smooth. Then I installed the nvidia driver plugin and set the needed arguments as specified by the instructions. The gpu(1050ti) is seen in the container and data is being reported by nvidia-smi. Now, when I play a video with Convert(Maximum) quality it's the default setting its all fine and the dashboard signals it's a hardware transcode with (hw). However, when I drop the quality intentionally the video just drops out and there is a black screen. I am attaching all my logs from plex. I don't see anything really suspicious except these couple of lines: DEBUG - [Transcode] Transcoder: Cleaning old transcode directory: "/config/Plex Media Server/Cache/Transcode/Sessions/plex-transcode-decess6le80q4d7uc7d3jqxu-834ade1e-64f5-4ed6-abf7-d9f1bf34b7d1" DEBUG - [Transcode] Whacked session decess6le80q4d7uc7d3jqxu, 0 remaining.
