[Support] binhex - Plex Pass

There was a bug in the previous version that may of set permissions incorrectly, can you force a reapply by stopping the docker and then delete /config/perms.txt then start again and wait, it can take up to 20 mins to apply all permissions for plex. If this works try the same trick for sab.

Thanks.

Deleting the perms.txt for SABnzbd did the trick.

I did the same for plex but it is now resetting permissions and I have a large collection so that takes a long time.  Will report back if that fixes the problem.

It came back up, but came online as a new server.  Name was set to default, so had to rename and claim server.  Some of my server settings are there and some where change to default.  Weird.  When opening player apps I have to select the new server even though name is the same.  Hopefully that does not happen again as it took the system down a while and changing the server is confusing to those that use my server.

Thanks,

Greg

Hmm that is very odd, not sure why it thinks it's a new server.

Just realized it got worse, all my synced content to amazon cloud is now gone as that was associated with old server and new server has not synced anything yet.  Took me a while to upload all that stuff.  ARghhhhh.

I deleted the old server so I assume I am stuck now and just have to start the uploading again.

EDIT:  spoke to soon.  New server does not have any syncs setup, but old synced content is still there.  Problem is that it was auto uploading new movies and new episodes of specific shows, which won't work anymore.  Will have to figure out if there is a way to associate the synced content with new server.

My Plex broke too as pilgrimHK describes, after updating today. Gonna try the permissions suggestion and see how things go.

Edit: Deleting the perms.txt file solved the problem. Name of Plex might have changed, because users suddenly don't have permissions to libraries, corrected that manually.

Thought I would point anyone experiencing latency issues to the following thread: https://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=47414.0

It looks like plex server may be causing some latency/lag on slower networks.

I just updated binhex's plugin and it seems to possibly resolved? As of this moment I am not showing issues, but it was very random before. Ill keep an eye on it and post any updates if needed!

Good Luck

I'm running the latest update and my server will no longer play anything. All the media displays correctly but nothing plays, even the stuff I played Wednesday evening so I expecxt its a server/unraid/plex version issue as its alwasy been ok before.o

I think this is the oredr of events that has led to the issue.

This week I updated unraid to 6.1.8 and plexpass to the newest one. This broke plex for me but 6.1.9 fixed it that next day. That night played a film (wed). Nothing has played since but I can see all the libraries on all my devices. I also have Emby server installed and that is working fine but i prefer Plex.

I'd like to try rolling Plex back a version but Im not sure how in this docker senario so any tips please?

It seems some things work...

TV Shows work on some devices but not the web app.

Everything works on my daughters Samsung TV app.

there is a new version out, just incase your seeing a bug can you try updating to the latest version and let me know how you get on.

That works on everything I've tried it on so far thanks ;D

I just upgrade to the latest version today and after the upgrade the server disappeared from Docker and is no longer there.

Are you running the 6.1.9 version of unraid, if not upgrade the plugin as mine did this before

I was already running 6.1.9 but I got it to come back by just re-adding the container back from the '"My containers" section. All the settings were still there and Plex works.

(SOLVED)

Hello binhex,

I am brand new to UnRaid, so bear with me.

I have everything setup and running smoothly after several days of transferring data to my array.

Pretty much have a handle on Dockers and had Plex installed and setup without much issue.

Now its time to side load some Plug-in for Plex.

I dont seem to have permission to write to anything in the Plex Media Server folder. /mnt/cache/application/Plex Media Server

drwxrwxr-x  4 nobody users    88 Mar 16 12:16 ./

drwxrwxrwx  5 nobody users    73 Mar 16 22:04 ../

drwxr-xr-x 11 nobody users  204 Mar 16 12:18 Plex\ Media\ Server/

-rw-r--r--  1 root  root    162 Mar 15 00:35 perms.txt

-rw-r--r--  1 root  root  58267 Mar 16 23:14 supervisord.log

drwxr-xr-x  7 nobody users  4096 Mar 16 23:14 transcode/

What am I missing?

EDIT Ive gone into the docker settings and change the PUID and GUID to the user I want to have access.

This has changed the permissions correctly on the transcode folder, but the Plex Media Server is still showing nobody:user.

Do I need to delete that Perms.txt file and restart the docker?

EDIT 2Yep that seems to have done the trick.

So for any noobs out there, if you run into the same problem do the following.

SSH into your server, login, and run the following command. "id <username>" (replace username with the user that you want to have write access.)

Make note of the UID and GID numbers that represent this user

Open the settings (Edit) for your Plex Docker Application and click the advanced switch at the top.

Enter the UID number in the PUID field, enter the GID number in the GUID field.

Click Save.

Browse to the folder where your Plex Media Server install resides.

In this folder along with the Plex folder is a file called Perms.txt, delete this file.

Now restart your Plex Docker Application.

Done.

nice write up, thats exactly the procedure, i might add this to the FAQ, just to be clear for anybody reading this, you only need to do the procedure above IF you want to switch the user and group the container runs as.

Hey guys running into an issue.

Trying to move my windows based plex setup over to a docker on unraid however after i setup the docker and load the web ui ( in my case 192.168.2.33:32400/web) it just takes me to a portal to see everyone else plex librarys that im associated with.

No options to setup the server that i just typed in the correct ip and port for.

I thought maybe it had something to do with my plex account so i tried creating a new account and it just asked me to setup a server and ended up with the same results.

Ive setup other containers with docker and this is easily been the most difficult.

Any ideas?

** edit - Must have been cache on my pc or something i tried accessing the page on my laptop and issue took care or itself.although i was trying to set it up in a different browser.... odd but all is working now

Version 0.9.16.3.1840-cece46d was released two days ago on Mar 21, 2016.

Any word on when the update will be available for your Docker container?

edit: It's been a week now and Docker is not showing an update available but Plex web has been telling me about the update for days. Is my Docker not working or is the update still not available for your container?

Looks like your /media/muziek1 directory has some corruption.  Maybe check permissions on that directory and files and make sure they match the rest of your files.
