[Support] binhex - Sonarr

Hi @binhex,

Not sure if this is correct place to post for this (feature request), so apologies if not.

I also do not know if this is something you would address or if it needs to go to the folks doing Sonarr directly.

Would it make sense to use an SSD (Cache?) to pull the files to, the INcomplete files, process them and then move them to complete folder on the array?

Looking at overall speed and processing/unpacking speed is all. This may be a foolish idea and undoable.

However, one does not know until they ask.
Thanks much for a great product! Beer on the way!

If you're using Sonarr to post process via an add-on script etc, then it's just adding another appropriate mapping and adjusting the script accordingly.

If you're using Sonarr to simply rename the completed downloads and toss them onto the array (as probably most people do), then you have your DL client download to a cache-only share, unpack them there, and then Sonarr moves the completed downloads onto the array.

then edit the paths on your download docker, Sonarr docker, Radarr docker, etc to point to the UD mount.

The 'how to' on path editing is what has me confused. Adding a stand-alone SSD hit me after I posted. Any posts for path editing you are aware of? I did try to search it out...

I am using the basic Sonarr setup - rename -> pass to array. I am all about learning about the post-processing scripts though. Any posts come to mind?

Have another issue to weed out first... all my Docker's are making like 8086 days... slooooow. No matter what I do, webui, start, stop, restart, I have molasses that moves faster! Off to research that...

I'm not anal enough to care about running a post-processing script via Sonarr to remove things like excess subtitles, etc.  So not the best guy to suggest.  But, where you would want to look is on Sonarr's project page

First thing to do is make sure that the incomplete and completed downloads referenced by your DL client are stored on a cache-only share (or alternatively cache-prefer)

hahahaha me either, ergo the vanilla install!

Won't doing this fill up the SSD quickly? I can't afford them thar fancy TB models and I want to give back by seeding.

Yea, I get this, but I am still trying to wrap my head around it. I have that great post that RobJ wrote up and it dumbs it down nice.

Not to make excuses, but I am trying to learn unRAID (my stress relief outlet, really am a geek), and trying to finish my Master's degree in an entire different subject.

My hard drive is old and it takes all I can to do one, let alone both ?

It’s fairly easy. Go to Dockers tab and select the docker you want to edit. This is what the /data path in my Deluge docker looks like-

SafariScreenSnapz109.thumb.jpg.150f63479abea61999ccfe9f499bb013.jpg

This is an example of a standalone UD path. If you click the edit button you'll get this popup window-

You just need to replace the host path with your new one and be sure access mode is set to RW/slave. You'll need to do this with Sonarr, Radarr and any other torrent dockers you use.

If you're using torrents instead of usenet, then probably.  But as you've noted, sure it'll fill up quickly.  And then once it's full you're going to be downloading to the array, which will slow everything down huge.

Very nice... thanks!

Don't use torrents though... scare me from the past. Utilizing Usenet right now.

Maybe I just need to re-vist torrents. Least that way I wouldn't have to build a flippin VPN box yet to get the line speeds my ISP offers.

Mind if I ask what service you use for the torrents?

This is what I have noticed which is why I inquired about the SSD for the speed bump.

However, I am using Usenet and not torrents.

I am more concerned about the pipe being exposed between me and the news servers.

OpenVPN on my new EdgeRouter Pro is crazy slow. After some research I figured out I am going to need a box with at least a Xeon octa core @ 3.5Ghz just to get around 500 MB down. I soon won't need a furnace!

Then you don't need to worry about seeding, because there is no seeding on usenet at all.  Purely a one-way connection.

I've always gotten line speeds.  As a matter of fact, I limit the bandwidth to leave room for all my other devices.  If I don't, they slow to a crawl.

The OpenVPN on the router is probably a server, not a client.  You use it to connect to your server remotely

Use SSL connections to the news-server

Yea, just realized that. I am just getting back into all of this... been away for a while and I have bigger fires, so I only get to play sporadically.

I've apparently not gotten mine setup correctly then. The Googling has me thinking I need something to unwrap the packets faster, ergo the standalone bigger processor. Dunno, I'll just keep on plugging away...

I thought I was setting up a client. ??? I get the whole client server OpenVPN thing, which is why I am now confused. Do you have a recommendation as to where I could research this more? I figured that router would make a great client. geez...

don't use these dockers, but I do use NZBGet for Usenet, and it can go plenty fast. Are you using multiple connections?

I am using both SAB and NZBGet. They work great and are quite fast, when i don't get throttled! Just they only have SSL and from what I've been reading, the ISP's are cracking those packets too; legally or not, but that's a whole nuther conversation.

looks like corrupt database to me, you will need to restore from backup, or delete it, restart and allow it to create a blank db and then re-configure from scratch, taken from your log:-

NzbDrone.Core.Datastore.CorruptDatabaseException: Database file: /config/nzbdrone.db is corrupt, restore from backup if available. See: https://github.com/Sonarr/Sonarr/wiki/FAQ#i-am-getting-an-error-database-disk-image-is-malformed ---> System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteException: disk I/O error

that message is telling you that sonarr cannot connect to nzbget, check your configuration and make sure nzbget is operational.

nzbget was running and actively downloading at the time.

When I checked it this morning it this message multiple times. nzbget was still running and when I went into sonarr's download client config to test the connection it was successful.

Unable to retrieve queue and history items from NZBGet: Unable to connect to NzbGet. Error getting response stream (ReadDone2): ReceiveFailure: 'http://192.168.1.69:6789/jsonrpc'

Unpacking is normally done by the downloader, in this case it's transmission, I'm not that familiar with transmission but a bit of googling probably would give you a solution.

didnt have that setup within transmission. But went for deluge-vpn docker :-) But sonarr is driving me crazy for not having the function to set priority between index providers.  So i may have to try out medusa.

Thanks for all your support.

I have the binhex delugevpn, sonarr and radarr Dockers installed.  When I turn the proxy on in sonarr and/or radarr and point it to the privoxy that is installed as part of the delugevpn docker...the indexers test successful then 15 minutes or so later they fail and the the indexer gets disabled until I test it again.     In sonarr proxy is on and using http(s) with unraid ip and privoxy port.

Any suggestions?
