v6.1.x - kodi headless

Featured Replies

I want to run kodi on my unraid box so i can update sql backend. I see there are multiple docker solutions for this.. which is the one to use?

It seems like sparkyballs was the one to use.. although has some bad naming schemes to figure out which one to use/some overlap.

Then linuxserver.io came through and gobbled his up and did updates on it.. then sparkyballs joined them?  Thus sparky's repo is now defunct?

Right now I run Kodi v15.2 “Isengard” but I will update to v16 once it has been out for awhile/stable. Thus I want to go with something that will actually be updated... I dont care about living on bleeding edge but don't also want to have to switch docker/setups each time a new major version of kodi comes out.

Use the linuxserver.io one, switching versions isn't difficult and you can cross that bridge when you come to it.  I know Sparkly has already built a RC1 headless version.

thanks for responding, will do.

I have used headless Kodi and loved it while it worked. Got annoyed with corrupt DB's, different version per release etc. So I wanted a more transparent solution. Which leads me to ....

There is always the Emby option plus Emby Kodi Plugin which I use and love! Openelec plus Emby is awesome IMHO!  8)
