January 23, 201610 yr Problem 1 I have a WD 1TB external USB3 drive NTFS formatted that I cannot access through the shares. I am using plugin Unassigned Devices gfjardim 2015.11.18 and unRAID 6.1.3 I see the drive in Unassigned Devices and select share and mount options, I can see the drive is shared in Windows but it asked for Network Credentials when I tried to access it. I have tried machinename\$username and password for both root and the single other user I have set up but I still cannot access the share. Update: Lost access to all shares now on from main PC and on laptop which now wants authentication for all SMB shares public and private. Using Win 8.1 Pro 64bit Problem 2 I have a Windows 8.1 Pro VM on my UnRaid server, it works well for gaming and as a media center so I'm happy that it's set up okay. If I try to assign the Unassigned Drive to the VM by ticking the box [Western Digital Technologies, Inc. My Passport Ultra (WDBZFP)] to update the VM xml but the VM will not see this drive. I can see no device error on the VM, do I need to install additional drivers or add anything to the XML. All usb ports are 3.0.
January 23, 201610 yr This should have been posted in the current Unassigned Devices Thread: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=45807.0 Not sure if a mod can move this post to an exisiting thread .... Edited at request of the OP!
January 23, 201610 yr Author @danioj I haven't pinned it down yet and now it seems like it might be SMB related as can't access other drives. Could you please edit your post in case potential helpers mistakenly redirect to other post. Thanks.

What you are trying to do I do myself. I have occasionally seen problems with share authentication from Windows 10 that I have managed to resolve by rebooting the Windows machine.. danioj has provided the link for the current Unassigned Devices plugin from dlandon and you should change to that and I do agree that would also be a better place for this post, purely because using the plugin is pivotal to both of your issues. The problem with keeping it a separate thread is that dlandon may not see your post and if there is a problem with Unassigned Devices then a fix may actually take longer.

January 23, 201610 yr Author Thanks for the quick replies. @CHBMB I think you might be onto something with the share authentication from Windows even though I'm on 8.1 Pro. After a restarting Windows the shares on the array came back but the Unassigned device share was still asking for authentication so maybe it's something that has been pushed to the earlier version in an update. @danioj Thanks for the advice I will try the new plugin. To be honest the suggested thread has 3 pages of stuff that just goes above my linux noobish head and I was not sure the problem was even connected to the plug-in however you are correct that it is an Unassigned Devices thread rather than a plugin thread so I'm happy for the mods to merge if that's better for the site.

It might be worth using Windows Credentials Manager to clear any existing credentials for the unRAID server. I have seen issues where Windows keeps trying to use previously stored credentials.
