January 24, 201610 yr Is it possible and either advantageous or negative to use par2 multicore inside of a docker container? Will it indeed use multiple cores and speed up the par process?
January 25, 201610 yr Well, the chuchusoft link is dead so it won't install the par2 from there anyways. But yes, multicore support should work even when running as a Docker. Going way back to unRAID V4, that chuchusoft par2 was used because the slack par2 wouldn't correctly report that it had successfully repaired the files, leading to the download failing in SAB. I actually found the chuchusoft par2 fixed this trying to get SAB working right. Getting multicore support was actually a bonus. Now, multicore par2 exists for ubuntu because the chuchusoft code was picked-up and incorporated into a package. So, pick another docker that installs par2-tbb and you'll get multicore. Needo's docker should be updated to just install par2-tbb instead of par2 and then the chuchusoft stuff wouldn't be needed. But, he hasn't been around for months now so I'm thinking his dockers won't get updated. I'm going to drop him a PM and see what happens.
