New unraid build. Should i reinstall unraid onto flash key?

Featured Replies

I have rebuilt my server this weekend with new parts. Motherboard and cpu.

System is working okay except i have had a few lockups on rebooting.

Would i be better off to reinstall unraid onto my flash drive for the new build rather than just putting my unraid flash

from old build into this one?

thanks

Assuming there was nothing wrong with your previous installation I don't see how it could matter. unRAID figures out your hardware from scratch each time it boots and uses your drive assignments (stored on flash) and installs and starts whatever else you have added in the way of plugins, dockers, VMs (also stored on flash). I have done a couple of similar upgrades and it just worked.

If you think you may have had some things not quite right about your current install then by all means clean it up by starting over. It can be a good thing to figure it all out again, remember what you have done, and get rid of stuff you don't need anymore.
