January 30, 201610 yr Hi everyone! This is my first post here, so hello to everybody! I've purchased this product after seeing Linustech's video about two players gaming on the same pc with two different instances of Windows running. Before asking my question, my config: Rampage V Extreme + 5960x Gtx 980 Gtx 670 GeForce 210 The question: Is it somehow possible to "force" unRaid to boot in a Gpu that IS NOT in the first pcie slot? Is it the gpu needed even after the configuration of the two VM (and after having set their automatic startup)? I really need the first gpu (I mean, the closest to the cpu) to be the Gtx980, since I'm also running a h*ckintosh.. it would be very annoying to swap each time those gpus! Thank you all
January 30, 201610 yr There is no way currently to choose which card to use for unraid. The only way to use the first card for a VM is to use an AMD card. They do not have the same limitation that the nvidia cards have. Why not use the 210 in the first slot? I don't think you will notice any difference running the cards in 8x vs 16x.
January 30, 201610 yr Author Why not use the 210 in the first slot? I don't think you will notice any difference running the cards in 8x vs 16x. Just because the h*ckintosh has the same problem: the first gpu connected will be the designed gpu for the system (os X is not being virtualized, it is a physical installation). Ok, so I think I'm gonna swap those gpu every time I need to pass from one system to another. I have a last question, please: is it possible to use a USB device (such as a pen drive or an HHD) as parity disk? I mean those disks that you select in "array" section under "main". Thank you

I thought it was in a VM.
January 31, 201610 yr Community Expert Sounds like you intend to boot into something other than unRAID at times, this "hackintosh". You cannot allow any other system to access any of unRAIDs array while unRAID is not running. You will invalidate parity. The usual method is to always boot into unRAID, and then run any other system as a VM on top of unRAID.
