Can't load virtl drivers from ISO!

Featured Replies

Hey, I'm stuck on the installation of Windows 10 because the system doesn't recognize the driver! It says that new driver for the device can't be found.

I've downloaded the drivers from the 4th link on the support page (I've clicked on the "virtl drivers ISO" link under my VM configuration tab).

Once booted up the VM, I begin the installation, then to load the driver I select "browse", then E: driver (virtio-win-0.1.122) --> viostor --> w8.1 --> amd64.

Is something wrong? I can navigate to all the folders of the iso, but I can't load even from w8 x64.

Any help appreciated.. thank you!

Did you download the installation iso from microsoft like it shows in the tutorial?

I think you would have more succes to start with a Windows 8 installation and install all the virtual drivers. Then upgrade it to windows 10. Now I know this isn't what you wanted, so I am going to start and Windows 10 install my self now and see if I have the same problem.

I think when you keep using IDE it will install and run the vm.

I get back on this.

There have been a few incidents lately with custom isos being the problem for not getting the drivers installed.

Sure! Directly from microsoft website, is a legit copy of Windows 10!

Then I would try some older virtio drivers. 109 worked for me on win 10 pro.

Did you try the w10 folder of the drivers iso?

Did you try the w10 folder of the drivers iso?

No, sorry. Is it in the same directory? I mean the same I wrote below (anyway, in that folder I can only find 8 and 8.1 drivers, no 10 folders)

Moreover, where can I find older versions of that driver? I will also try this way!

I used the ISO : virtio-win-0.1.112

But that was after upgrading from Windows 8 Pro.

Device Manager says:

Driver date: 12/16/2015

Driver version: 62.73.104.11200

Downloading Windows 10 iso now....

Did you try the w10 folder of the drivers iso?

It's in the viostor folder and named w10.

If you only see w8 and w8.1 folders in the viostor folder there is something wrong.

Checking my iso virtio-win-0.1.112 and I do see F:\viostor\w10

I have downloaded the Windows 10 iso now and setup the vdisk1.img to IDE then I can install Windows 10 without a problem. After the install I will add a second disk keep disk 1 on IDE and disk 2 on virtio. Install the F:\viostor\w10\amd64\viostor.inf (right mouse button --> Install.

So I see two options:

Change your XML for disk into IDE

or get the proper iso with W10 drivers on it.
