Chaging cache drives - Solved

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm in the process of swapping out my old SSD cache drive (120GB) for a new (500GB) SSD. Now the problem I have is the fact that the only note on how to swap the drives are from 2013 (https://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Replace_A_Cache_Drive).

So my question is... If the two drives are mirrored why wouldn't I just add my bigger drive to the cache pool, wait for it to sync and then remove the smaller drive? Would that work or is there another recommended way to do it in version 6?

Cheers

That is the easiest way, if your current cache drive is BTRFS.

It is but I'm not so sure about . Would this do?

1. assign the new drive as a cache drive and start the array (to format it)

2. stop the array and copy all files over from the old to the new

3. start the array

I would like to avoid installing a script to preclear and let unraid do all the work like it did the first time around.

Edit:

It worked. I have mounted the new cache just to format it and then copied all the files from the old cache to a random drive. Then I just mounted the new drive and copied all the stuff back and restarted the array.

Thanks
