February 4, 201610 yr I have been having stability issues with my unRAID server and am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. I have had my unRAID server hang several times over the last couple weeks. The web interface typically stops responding, can't access mapped shares, and typically I can't remote into the server. After several hangs one of the data drives reported that it was failing. I preformed a parity swap with a new 4TB drive and used the old parity drive to replace the dying data drive. Then yesterday I was moving a lot of data around and everything died on me again. I was copying a little over 1TB from an external drive over USB and moving some data around over the network from my HTPC at the same time. These transfers were running overnight without issue until everything died in the morning. This time the web client was still functional and I was able to dump the logs using the diagnostic tool (see the attached zip). The web interface seems completely function but I can't stop the array for some reason. I am unable to check the "Yes I want to do this" button. I am not really sure what state the array is in and am not sure how I should proceed. I am able to ssh into the machine right now and all of the disk appear to be mounted but if I try and touch those mounts my session locks up. I believe the last two times I have run into this issue I have been copying files from an external USB to the array locally on the server. Though it has definitely happened with out the external. I was using a plugin called Unassigned Devices to mount the USB device. When looking at the syslog I did see some errors related to network transfers but am unsure of how to proceed. Let me know if anyone has any ideas or needs any more information from me. Thanks! unraidjt-diagnostics-20160203-1934.zip
February 4, 201610 yr It might be worth trying a better network card. The Marvell on your board isn't known to be the best. There's a few "sky2" errors at the end of your syslog, which is the Marvell driver. I'd get an Intel card and see if that cures the issue. I highly expect it will.

February 4, 201610 yr Author I will try getting a new NIC and test it out with some large transfers. Any ideas on the state of the array? Should I just shutdown without stopping properly and run a parity check?
February 4, 201610 yr Community Expert If you can use the webUI I don't understand why it won't let you check the box that lets you Stop. Do you have an adblocker or something that might be interfering with the browser? Can you try a different browser or computer to access it?
February 4, 201610 yr Author Yeah it does seem strange. I just tried in IE (the only other browser I have installed) and it still won't let me stop the array. The checkbox isn't grayed out but clicking it doesn't do anything. I did just notice that it says the mover is running, not sure if that could have caused any issues.
April 26, 201610 yr I'm having the same issues with the sky2 driver... I've hooked up a USB dongle (100MBps), but I am not sure how to disable eth0 and have eth1 (USB dongle) get an IP automatically. Any ideas? Funnily enough, FreeNAS, and Ubuntu have never had an issue with the Marvel NIC. Wonder if there is an issue with the driver included in unRaid?
