MediaPortal (v1.1.0 Beta1) TV-server recording to unRAID cache drive?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've just startet to play around with MediaPortal.

I have installed MediaPortal (v1.1.0 beta1) TV-server on a dedicated Windows 7 machine that I use for different applications like FTP, uTorrent ,RDP etc.

What i would like is having the TV-server record to the cache drive as i don't have any space on the Windows 7 machine (one 40GB disk).

How do i go about that?

So fare i know it is a questions of getting the folder/user permissions correct. I get an error in the MediaPortal error.log:

2009-11-03 15:52:31.060546 [10]: Exception   :System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path 'Z:\.TV-recordings\Timeshiftbuffer'.

(I have also tried with the UNC path on my shared folders ie. '\\unraid\common'.

I have started the TV-server service with the in-build 'Network Services' account - Also tried running the service with my 'administrator' account. The standard 'Local system' account don't have network access.

I thinking that using the 'Network Service' account may not have much effect as Windows and unRAID are different when it comes to permissions/rights.

On the MediaPortal forum I have read that it should work, when changing the TV-server service to run as an admin-account, but I'm guessing that this is when recording is done to another Windows machine.

Thanks.

The solutions was to install the latest SVN and use UNC path for timeshift/recording. Mapped drives don't work. Dosen't matter if I use 'Network Services' og 'Local system' to start the service.
