Strange network issue with static IP

Featured Replies

HI

When I set the windows 10 VM virtio ethernet adaptor to a static IP on the same network as my UNRAID server, It loses network connectivity completely. I am not able to ping anything on the local LAN. As soon as I set the adaptor to DHCP all is OK. What gives? I am setting the IP correctly, the gateway of my router and the primary DNS of my router.

Any ideas?

Perhaps the static IP you are giving it is in use by another device on your LAN? Do you know the scope of your DHCP server? Are you certain you are giving it an IP outside of that scope? What IP did you give it?

i fugured it out. I was using the virtualbridge defaulted when first setting up unraid. I set up a manual bridge, selected it in the vm settings and set a static on the adaptor. All OK.
