Switched to Q35 with NVME - No drive found

I decided to try Q35 instead of ifx for my NVME passthrough woes. Stability seems to be much better (vm shutdown etc) but I am unable to get Windows 10 Installation media to detect the NVME drive. I tried the samsung nvme drivers that people are using to install Windows 7 but this did not work either. Typically the Windows 10 media can detect the drive anyway so I wonder why it is not doing this under Q35? Any ideas?
