February 17, 201610 yr hello - unRAID has been running perfectly - until i tried setting up VMs, where it told me IOMMU was disabled. I went through the BIOS however, and IOMMU is definatley enabled, with 1024MB allocated to it. Thoughts? Thanks, Matt

February 18, 201610 yr You don't normally allocate memory to IOMMU.... At least I've never had to. Like trurl says nobody can help you unless you post your hardware, CPU & Motherboard.

Your BIOS states this for "IOMMU" (which doesn't mean amd-vi (or more common Intel's vt-d), and I see nowhere else to enable virtualization. IOMMU IOMMU is supported on LINUX based systems to convert 32bit PCI IO address to 64 bits. Enabled / Disabled You can try adding this to your syslinux.cfg file (on your unRAID flash drive): You may only need the iommu=1 part. iommu=pt iommu=1 It would then look something like this: label unRAID OS menu default kernel /bzimage append iommu=pt iommu=1 initrd=/bzroot The problem is your hardware is pretty old, and AMD is difficult to lookup for the needed "AMD-Vi" specification for your CPU. Hopefully it is supported (on both the CPU, the chipset, and in the BIOS), and you're all set, but I'm not too confident as of now.

When booting in normal mode, it throws up an error, detailed in the photo linked below. May 7, 20206 yr I have looked all over the bios to find a specific setting, can't find anything specific to IOMMU however Virtualization is on.
May 7, 20206 yr its an old Dell XPS motherboard, there was an i5 4th gen in it, however I upgraded to an i7 4770 to get more virtual cores. As soon as switched the cpu the GFX assignment per VM stopped working in unraid, even after switching the CPU back to i5 still wont allow GFX assignment. I am building this rig for my nephews from spares I had lying around, so they can both game on one machine. I would strongly appreciate any assistance, I am at the end of my rope with this thing, been working on it for a couple of nights now. My last ditch is to find another board, and I have been looking it's not a good alternative.

Bios version is last one from 2019. https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/P8B WS/HelpDesk_BIOS/ CPU is Xeon E3-1245. https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/65729/intel-xeon-processor-e3-1245-v2-8m-cache-3-40-ghz.html So everything should be fine in order to pass trough PCIe devices, but IOMMU appears disabled in unraid . Please note that years ago i was able to pass trough devices such as HardDrives to ESXi in RDM mode of vsphere. Is it something not working as expected in Unraid OS version 6.8.3 for IOMMU support? November 24, 20205 yr i reply to myself in case it can help other users: issue was inisde my syslinux.cfg file , i had just " label Unraid OS menu default kernel /bzimage append intel_iommu=off initrd=/bzroot " i changed last line in " append intel_iommu=on initrd=/bzroot " and it worked like a charm
