February 25, 201610 yr I have tried several "high quality" 4 GB USBs (SanDisk Cruzer and Verbatum) but neither one will boot. I have booted other non Windows OS on the same Mobo. The mobo is an Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 with an AMD FX8350 chip. Any suggestions?
February 25, 201610 yr Community Expert Are you sure it is trying to boot from the flash? If not, then you need to keep working with your BIOS to get it to boot from the flash. If it is trying to boot from the flash but failing, are you sure you are preparing the flash exactly as instructed? What exactly do you see on your monitor when you try to boot?
February 25, 201610 yr i've had some challenges getting asus motherboards to boot from unraid usb sticks. in the asus bios, on the screen that lists all the disks seen by the bios, you might pick "usb" for disk1 (instead of picking an actual hard disk for disk1). setting bios to boot from usb first never worked for me. it was changing disk1 that helped me with recent mobo upgrade in my son's unraid box. good luck.
February 25, 201610 yr Author Thanks to all for helping. I went back into the BIOS and made some adjustments and now the boot USB works. Thanks again.
