Games not launching?

Featured Replies

Greetings,

After watching 2 Gamers 1 CPU I wanted to start messing with server stuff.  After 500+ PC's built & sold, things got a little boring.  Now I did mess up and going with older hardware so setting up VM's won't happen, but nonetheless I have UNraid on my server now.  Except, 1 big issue.  I installed steam onto the server, downloaded a few games to the server, but when I try to launch them on my PC, nothing happens.  I wanted to use the server for mass storage to run games off of (from an exe standpoint).  Below are the specs:

Server:

2x Intel Xeon X5460

16GB DDR2 667MHz ECC

3x250GB 7200 RPM HDD's

EVGA G1 650W 80+ Gold PSU

Main PC:

Intel Core I7-4790K 4.5GHz @ 1.225V

EVGA Z97 FTW Board

2x8GB DDR3 1600MHz Ram

EVGA GTX 980 TI SSC 6GB GDDR5

Crucial MX100 500GB SSD

EVGA G1 650W 80+ Gold PSU

Thanks

Steven

EDIT: Should the parody take 20 hours?  Can I power down my main PC but keep the server on?

Is your parity drive one of those 3x250GB? If so I would expect parity to complete in under an hour.

How did you install steam on unRAID?

How are you running Steam without a VM?

So like your steam directory is on an unRaid Share?

Yikes, I would never do that, even if it works it will be slow, i'd bet.

Chances are it's not properly mapping to those drives, or maybe there is a security issue. IDK.

I have 3 250GB HDD's, one in parity and the other 2 Disk 1 & 2, I left it on over night and it still has 5 hours to go?  Is one of the drives bad?

You probably checked “parity is already valid” before starting the array, so you’re doing a parity check instead of a parity sync, and because there are many errors it will take much longer, if there are many sync errors you can stop, do a new config, a full parity sync should take about an hour.
