February 26, 201610 yr Hi all, CPU is a (OLD) AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Athlon%2064%20X2%203800%2B%20-%20ADA3800DAA5BV%20(ADA3800BVBOX).html Just upgraded to UNRAID 6.1.8 which shows that the machine is running with one core (in the dashboard) Seems to be a known problem in Linux. Was wondering if anyone else had encountered and had a fix. Thanks. Thread about this on UBUNTU forum: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/213011

You have to use the one that is supplied (unless you are into building your own Linux kernels and have the knowledge on how to make unRAID use the one you build).
February 26, 201610 yr Author Thanks itimpi. Not inclined to build my own kernel etc - I am not that proficient in Linux and really do not want to muck around with UNRAID where I end up with some custom system. Was wondering if there was some switch/parameter I could set.
February 26, 201610 yr It's probably too old but check for a BIOS update. Syslog says it couldn't recognize the CPU, which could explain why it couldn't configure itself for the CPU correctly.
February 27, 201610 yr Author Thanks all. I had a core 2 Duo Quad Core (Q6600 @2.4Ghz) laying about - on a IPIBL-LA Motherboard. So I swapped the MB and CPU out. That poor Athlon 64 X2 3800+ on an ASUS A8N32-SLI has worked for 10 years first as my desktop and then since 2010 as my UNRAID server. It's still in great shape - any ideas what use I could put it to?
