February 27, 201610 yr i have all the HW to build another box of some kind.... AMD FX cpu, mobo, 4GB DDR3 RAM, mid tower case, power supply, various hard drives each smaller than 400 GB , SATA cables, etc. what could i build with this stuff other than another unRAID box? (now have two of them).
February 27, 201610 yr I typically take my old hardware and build something for a friend in need. I upgrade a lot more often than many people so my old stuff is new for them.
February 27, 201610 yr Ditto. Just build something for a friend; or build a nice system to donate to charity. I do this a LOT ... I gave about a dozen computers away last year (a lot of folks I help give me older PC's, which I upgrade, reload, and donate to charity), and still have a half dozen spare ones sitting around the house
February 27, 201610 yr Author good idea ... my 20 something nephew has 4 kids under age 7 and a stay at home mom. he asked me about upgrades to an old PC he had months ago but never followed up. will contact him again
