VPN stuff, acces from outside of the network

Featured Replies

I need acces to unraid, and the network it is in, from outside of the network.

- I have cable internet ds lite - so I got no real ipv4 adress

- First on the net is the Fritz box 6360

- All devices are either plugged in directly into the Fritz box, conect directly via wlan - or do so passing a single switch

I want to

- Be able to configure unraid on the go from a smartphone

- Give a friend of mine acces to my server/local network (I do not need user counts higher then 1/2)

- Be able to shut down VPN for good whenever I do not need it anymore

Normaly I read everything I can and trial and error me into a solution, I do however lack a basic understanding of how this network related stuff works and it always kind of stopped me from progressing. :( On top of it, the server contains stuff that I do not want to unwillingly botchcraft into the open internet even though it isn't quite critical data.

From my basic understanding, I will need a dynamic dns first, then use a VPN Server, and then connect to that constellation with a device on the outside over VPN. I do not however know, which products and names I should hunt after, how to configure them, and what the best method for what I want to do is in the first place.

If someone could explain me, or link me into a full guide that does not let out the good stuff, that would be quite awesome.

For so long, keep up the good work, i'm grateful unRAID exists

Don't know anything about the Fritz, but I put my LAN on my own ASUS router and pass it through my AT&T modem to the internet. The ASUS has DDNS and VPN built-in, and ASUS provides free DDNS for their routers.
