8TB of data vanished....

Featured Replies

I'm hoping I can get some assistance trying to track down what happened here.  I'm new to unraid, got it running about 5 days ago and have been copying my data over since then.  I have a user share named "media" that hold all my various types of media in subfolders.  A couple hours ago everything was fine.  Now I went to play a movie and the entire movie folder and everything in it is gone and unraid is reporting all of it as free space.  The other folders in that share look fine.  Is there a log that would tell me if something deleted the folder?  I'm assuming it's gone for good, I just don't want it to happen again or with the rest of my data...

I'm running 6.1.9, with a Win 10 VM and a few dockers:plex, sonarr, plexpy, and couchpotato.

Thanks in advance!

Possibly you have accidentally created another share named Media instead of media and you are looking at the wrong one. Linux is case-sensitive. Show us a screenshot of your User Shares page.

I wasn't even at the PC...  that's what has me really concerned.

attached is my share page.

That is showing a share named Media but your original post was talking about a share named media. As already mentioned, they are different. Did you ever have a share named media?

Go to Tools - Diagnostics and attach the complete zip to your next post.

Sorry, I shouldn't have used quotes around media.  It's always been a capital M.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I note you mention you are using Sonarr and CouchPotato - are you sure you haven't inadvertently set either's watch folder to the media location?  This can cause this sort of problem.  Sonarr calls it the 'Drone Factory', CP is under 'Renamer' settings, and labelled 'Folder where CP searches for movies', which can be misleading imho.

That's the only logical thing I can think of.  I'm trying to download a couple things now to see if it happens again when it does the renaming and moving.

Sonarr and CP ran a few times and no issues with it deleting extra folders.
