March 10, 201610 yr Hey guys I started having an issue with some of my media files becoming corrupt. It seems completely random as to which files are affected. The files were working as of a few days ago and now when I navigate to them from my Windows PC it looks like all of the file tags are missing and neither windows or plex are able to play them due to metadata corruption. I know there probably isnt anything I can do for the files that are already affected but does anyone know if there is a way I can search for all the affected files so that I can try to replace them? Thanks in advance!
March 10, 201610 yr Author I found a way to resolve the movie files, sorting them by resolution clumped all the files with no resolution together. I'm still not sure how to go about fixing the affected tv show files though.
March 10, 201610 yr Welcome to the forums. I suppose we're talking about unRAID protected storage where your files are saved? What hardware are we dealing with here? When was your last parity check? What is the status of your array? All green? If you're on an up-to-date version of v6, you could attach the diagnostics file. You can dump one on the "Tools" page within the unRAID GUI.
March 10, 201610 yr Community Expert Is that a screenshot from Plex? Plex typically saves its metadata in its own database rather than within the file. You really need to give us a lot more information about what you are doing.
March 10, 201610 yr Author Sorry guys I definitely should have included more information up front. My Unraid box has 2x AMD Opteron 4332 HE, Asus KCMA-D8 motherboard, 32GB ECC, Array consists of 4x WD Red 3TB and 1x WD Green 2TB, Cache is a 480 Sandisk Ultra II. It is a protected array. My last parity check was about 2 weeks ago with no errors. Running another right now. Status of array and all disks are green. Server was running 6.1.8 and just updated to 6.1.9 last night. I've attached the diagnostic zip. The picture is showing Plex and the Details tab under Properties in windows. The problem isn't Plex's metadata, as you can see it is all there and correct, but all of the file metadata is all missing which seems to be causing the issue. I haven't touched any files in the Movie or TV shares but recently added 16GB of RAM and swapped the 480GB ssd in to replace a 180GB ssd. None of the affected files should have changed from the upgrades I did. Thanks guys! zserver-diagnostics-20160310-1215.zip
March 10, 201610 yr recently swapped the 480GB ssd in to replace a 180GB ssd. Was all your Plex metadata on that 180gb SSD? If so I'd be suspicious that the Plex metadata is corrupt rather than your video files. Check your video files manually rather than with Plex, using something like mediainfo
March 11, 201610 yr Maybe save the existing metadata and let plex create a new set and see if the problem is solved.

I have had instances where I know the team has had issues with their metadata. @OP Do what CHBMB said, open a video file in VLC and see if it plays. I suspect it will.
March 11, 201610 yr Author The files themselves are corrupt, nothing has been able to read them so I'll just have to redo the ones I can find and if I find TV episodes that are corrupt I'll replace them one at a time. Thanks for the input guys.

Thanks for the input guys. I am guessing now BUT a guess and a stab in the dark is better than you having to replace your files ..... Could this be a permissions issue. Have you moved any of the files around while logged in as root user?
March 11, 201610 yr Is it possible that there was a mix between /mnt/user/Movies and /mnt/diskx/Movies in one of the automated programs that could be clobbering the data? IE: Is there any possibility that the corruption is due to the user share copy bug?

Thanks for the input guys. To mean that they files still exist but aren't playable... which is why I suggested it.
