March 12, 201610 yr Hey all! I have El Capitan setup and running through my VNC but I would like to give it a dedicated videocard. I was wondering what people in the wild are using, and if they had to install any special kexts or use any specific flags or workarounds. Thanks in advance! T
March 12, 201610 yr I'm using a xfx 750 nvidia card for El Capitan. No problems when using the nvidia web package. Had to use nv_disable before installing the driver though.
March 12, 201610 yr Radeon HD 6450 works out of the box. I also have tried my Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 for like 10 minutes. I didn't get it fully working but I strongly suspect I could have. If you read through the user comments on my OSX guide you will find a few users who have successfully gotten nvidia cards working and how they got them working.
March 12, 201610 yr Me too , that was I that told archedraft to use HD 6450 [emoji11][emoji11] Very true, by the time I started messing with the OS X VM peter had already gotten the OS X mostly working. He caught me up on all the complicated parts and from there I think I figured out how to get it into unRAID's XML code format and then made the pretty guide.

March 12, 201610 yr We make a pretty good team. I think within a matter of two weeks we both had it up and running. I know figuring out a few of those pieces, like the OS X key and that you had to use the correct ethernet controller "e1000-82545em" instead of just "e1000" like you could in a Windows VM was a pain to figure out. I think the thing I was most excited about was when peter found out the the 6450 worked out of the box because an OS X VM is nice and all but without graphics what is the point?
March 12, 201610 yr Yeah, joking aside, the work you two have done on OSX has been fantastic. I know I never would have got it up and running without all the help.

Hey guys sorry I have been AWOL for a bit but between school and work I have literally no life. Thanks for the Response! going to go with the 6450. My last question is, Does it support QE/CI? Not that I will be doing my photoshop over the VM, but I know that there are programs out there that will not function without the support. I am assuming it does because the OS would see it natively, just wanted to make sure. AND.... While I have your attention, Just wondering @archedraft, is there any specific reason that mu CPU shows up as a core2solo? Will this mean compatibility issues with programs being installed? (I know osx "verifies" before installing) Thanks for all of your help and your amazing tutorial!!

I believe it is because of this line in the XML <model fallback='allow'>core2duo</model> I tired messing with other models but nothing would boot on my machine. Maybe with unRAID 6.2 it will work but I haven't updated my server yet. Here is a list of some models you can try. It might be an older list: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux/6/html/Virtualization_Host_Configuration_and_Guest_Installation_Guide/ch03s02.html If you get one to work post back with how you accomplished it.

I too have yet to upgrade to 6.2 but I am excited to do it! (Yay for dual-partity)! I'll have to try when I go home after exams. I use GTX 980 on OSX 10.11.4. Works great with nvidia drivers. If I could afford a 980 believe me I would be all over it! That way I could not only have Mac but a nice 2gamers1cpu setup. For the time being I think i'll go for the 6450 for now, I'm only using the mac side for music production and already have a 290x for my windows gaming VM. Thanks to all the hardworkers for the great software and thanks again archedraft for the tut and continued support!
