March 21, 201610 yr Author You need to mount the disk in Unassigned Devices before you can see the SMART report... Thanks! Doesn't look good, yes?
March 21, 201610 yr Yeah, don't use that drive. He was only going to use it as a cache drive I thought. If that's true. Go for it.
March 21, 201610 yr Author Yes...just as cache; and I guess to host PLEX...which is the point of the OP. One says go this way, the other says go that way (and this guy...he's like "what do you want from me" I need a consensus.
March 21, 201610 yr Community Expert Get another disk unless it will break the bank. If you do go with the old disk be sure to back it up frequently so you can recover your plex library and whatever else you are keeping on it. If you were only using it to cache user share writes that would be different.
March 21, 201610 yr One says go this way, the other says go that way (and this guy...he's like "what do you want from me")LMAO at the goodfellas' reference. Pretty much my favorite movie.

Which is one reason why most people are using a 250GB SSD as a cache drive. It's ideal for a plex library that has thousands of small files.
March 21, 201610 yr Nah; of course not. I just wish, you could buy something small these days. I mean...even 250 is serious overkill, right? If you're only using the cache drive for plex and you do not have a crazy amount of movies then 250 is a on the higher end of space you need. If you will be doing other things with your cache drive, like other dockers or VMs or actually using the cache drive to get better transfer speeds, then 250 will not cut it. If you plan on messing with VMs or using the cache like normal get between 750 to 1 TB, IMHO.
March 21, 201610 yr Author OK, thanks guys...as always! Lemme get a cache; we'll get that straight...and then, not lose sight of the OP. Getting PLEX loaded and working efficiently (which, in hindsight...was probably not an installation or operator error; but for the record...I do have a decent movie library, and I was hosting PLEX on a full drive ) See ya soon.
March 21, 201610 yr Author Oh...this is gonna sound stupid; but I think that ship has sailed How do I properly, take this drive out of the "loop"?
March 23, 201610 yr Author Guys...I'm trying to keep this purchase; on the cheap. Looks like between $50-60, ought to get the job done. For that money...would you go 500G 3.5, or like a 128G SSD? Thanks

I personally would not trust them until I saw far better reviews than in the past.
March 29, 201610 yr I bought the ADATA, and have it in unidentified drives. I saw that. I only wanted to comment on the OCZ reliability for the sake of others.

March 29, 201610 yr Author R'uh R'oh; my peeps, aren't going to abandon me in the home s t r e t c h now....are they?
