March 13, 201610 yr We're looking to implement unraid for our small business. We install VOIP phone systems for other small/medium businesses. Most of our data is static and only changes weekly. However, we would like to start using VM's as apart of our business practice. We're looking of using 1 Windows Server 2012 vm and one Ubuntu desktop vm to start. The windows VM will be critical to our business as we'll be hosting our own phone server (3cx) on it, so we need to make sure that if a drive dies, our phone server is still running. All of our other static data can be offline for a day or 2 while a drive rebuilds. We have a server with 6 drives. 2x500GB ssds, and 4x3TB hdds. How would I best configure Unraid to support our business?
March 14, 201610 yr I would not recommend UnRaid for a business, especially for anything critical to the function of the business. No offence meant to the folks at Lime-Tech but the implementation of virtual machines on the UnRaid platform is still in its infancy at this point and not, in my opinion suitable for a business to rely on. I would suggest you look at either VMWare Esxi or Microsoft Hyper V, both are capable of being backed up by several vendors software and offer other features suitable to mission critical environments.
March 14, 201610 yr or have a look at www.proxmox.com as hypervisor (free, and easier to administer via browser; no other requirements). you could run your windows server vm and even unRAID as virtualized setup (being then a backup-server for example).

Nice. I hadn't considered Proxmox even though those in /r/homelab use it often. I'll have to check it out today.
March 14, 201610 yr How do you backup your virtual machines in Proxmox? Can they be replicated to another host?
