Abit AB9 pro and Siig SATA II-150

I have an Abit AB9 Pro MOBO that will handle 9 drives. I just tried to add a Siig SATA II-150 PCI card to add 2 more Sata ports and the machine will hang whenever that card is in there...with or without drives hooked up to it. When I first powered up I saw the bios for the card flash up on the screen but it said there were no drives hooked up to it even though there were. Then after all the other controllers showed their drives the computer just hung before it would start to load Unraid. I can't even get into the BIOS while the card is in. I know it is not unraid since it does not even get that far. Everything works fine without the card.

 

Is this card just not compatible with this MOBO or is there something I have to change in the bios?

    I would say that the most likely choice is that the card is bad.  A compatibility issue that stops it from booting seems rather remote to me, and a BIOS change to make it boot seems even more remote.

     

    Do try other slots though, as it could possibly be a defective or incompatible slot.
