March 17, 201610 yr Just another dumb question. Is it possible to register a domain name off of an unraid server and link it to an ip address?
March 18, 201610 yr Yes, but this is not an unRaid feature. Unraid is not ready to be port forwarded toward the wild and woolly internet. All your data will be owned by some Russian hacker. However some dockers running on unRaid are ready and any VM can be hardened and made ready. I have (an unRaid hosted FTP server) proFTP viewable from a domain name. Do you have static IP? If not you can use dynamic DNS such as duckdns (also available as a docker) to keep your non static IP linked to your duckdns domain name. The bigger question is. What are you wanting to accomplish?
March 18, 201610 yr I host a website with the Apache linuxserver.io docker container and dynamicDNS with CaptInsano's ddclient using namecheap.
March 18, 201610 yr I'd also recommend to at least get mace/cloudflare-ddns. It helped me a lot. - and better make sure you got some pw protection and not all ports open
