If i add a 1 3TB drive as the parity drive, and have 3 1TB drives in the array how much space would i have? you would have 3TB usable space. Simply add together the size of all drives except the parity drive(s). In your case a 3TB drive is more than is strictly speaking necessary for use with the 1TB drives as the only requirement is that the parity drive is at least as large as the largest data drive. However it does now mean that you can start using 3TB data drives if you so desire without changing the parity drive.
