Access methods for Windows 10 VM for gaming

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have been reading a bit around how to setup a Windows 10 VM under unraid for gaming purposes.

This looks like a great advancement, however I haven't got my head around the best method to access the VM.

From what I have read and seen, you can access the VM's via a)RDS, b)VNC, c)direct connection to the server.

Currently I have unraid installed on a server in the cupboard.  If I am to keep it there, then are only options a) and b) available? and what is the performance of this?

thanks. :)

Performance of a) is better than that of b).

Depending on actual distances and topology of your house then c) might still be viable by laying long cables.  HDMI can carry video successfully for significant distances, and so can USB for peripherals.
