March 21, 201610 yr Author To launch XFS_repair, I removed the -n value and pressed the button. Did I do wrong ? I am afraid the repair concern all the disks and not only the one at fault. Am I wrong to be worried ?
March 21, 201610 yr Community Expert It will only repair that disk. You should abort the rebuild if it's still going.
March 21, 201610 yr Author What do you think of the following : 1. I can't retrieve the data on the rebuilt disk. 2. I format this new big disk and transfer data from two other disks on it, freeing two slots/bays in my NAS. 3. I insert my old disk and mount it -out of the array- and try a XFS_REPAIR on this old disk. 4. success or failure, I will have done the possible to get my data back, I may copy the data from this disk on the array.
March 21, 201610 yr Community Expert It xfs_repair can't fix the rebuilt disk you can try that, only start copying data after all disks are green, then you can access the old disk using the cache slot or the unassigned devices plugin, if using the cache slot set its filesystem to auto or xfs, with some luck the old disk mounts and doesn't need xfs_repair.
