Setting up a new unRAID server, moving existing data to server

Featured Replies

I'm about to setup unraid on a whitebox server I made that was running windows 8, and had two 4TB drives in it.  Before setting up unraid I'm going to add another two 4TB drives for a total of 4 4TB drives.

My issue is I can move all my data to one of the 4Tb drives, but is there a way to copy the data from that one 4TB drive to the unraid storage pool I'll be creating?  Right now my plan is to take the 4TB drive with my data on it and hooking it up into another computer I have in my house and just coping via network, but it would be a lot nicer if I could somehow passthru the disk to unraid and copy only using the unraid server.

Also is there a FAQ for new people to read that talks about common mistakes and tasks that someone new to unraid would want to know about?

Take a look at the Unassiged Devices Plugin, it should do what you need.

As tdallen said. But to help you further you MIGHT want to install the EXCELLENT Community Applications plugin. This plugin will allow you to easily search for and add any of the unRaid docker or plugin applications or which Unassigned Devices is one.

Once installed you click on the Apps tab and search using its name.

In addition the support thread for Unassigned Devices is also located here:
