Case sensitive Shares?

Featured Replies

I was wondering if anyone knows why I see 'Appdata' and 'Appdata' in my Shares list, but when using Windows Explorer only 'Appdata' appears?

This is a minor, more cosmetic issue but it drives me nuts lol. A photo of how it appears is attached

Linux is case sensitive and windows is not.

Its best to not use shares with same name :)

Since Linux is case sensitive and Windows (and Samba are not) you never want two shares with the same spelling but different case.    What you find is that only one of them ends up being seen at the Samba level, and it is not always easy to predict which of them it will be.

To fix this you are going to need to either rename one of them, or copy files between disks to consolidate them both into a single share and remove the other one.
