Accessing files with non English characters

Featured Replies

New in this area, just setup a new machine running unRAID 6.1.9

I'm trying to access files on other Windows PC in the LAN using SMB. The files names have non English characters (Hebrew specifically) which are not recognized and showed as gibberish.

If I copy the files from Windows to the unRAID server they look OK through the GUI, gibberish from terminal. If i try to copy them from the terminal (using rsync), they aren't recognized and not copied.

System locale is configured as en_US.utf8 (as default installation). Do I need to modify it?

Changed locale to en_IL.utf8, still the same issue.

Update - when connecting from external computer, I can see Hebrew characters using putty (setting UTF8) but only gibberish on windows telnet (cmd) or on UnRAID server terminal.

Any clue?
